ALGIERS – Sunday, 05 November 2023 (APS) – The minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, tasked by the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, is to start Sunday evening a working visit to the Republic of Slovenia, the ministry said in a statement.
This visit, which comes at the invitation of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of this friendly country, Tanja Fajon, “is part of the joint efforts aiming at bolstering bilateral ties, particularly for the activation of the exchange of diplomatic representations through the opening of embassies in the capitals of both countries, and exploring new prospects for Algerian-Slovenian cooperation in several economic fields,” the statement said.
It further aims to “deepen the political dialogue on regional and international issues that are at the heart of the concerns of the two countries, particularly the developments of the situation in the Middle East and the Sahel region, in addition to several other issues on the agenda of the Security Council, especially as Algeria and Slovenia are about to join this UN body as non-permanent members,” starting from 1 January 2024, the statement said.
During his visit, Attaf is to hold talks with his Slovenian counterpart and be received by the President of Slovenia, Natasa Pirc Musar, as well as by the President of the National Council of Slovenia, Urska Klakocar Zupancic.
He will also hold talks with the Minister of Environment, Climate and Energy, Bojan Kumer, given that Algeria is one of Slovenia’s main suppliers of natural gas, the statement said.
