ALGIERS – Monday, 30 October 2023 (APS) – Sonatrach Group will hold a meeting in Tripoli on November 7 with the Libyan company NOC, to formalize the resumption of its activity in Libya, said Monday the group in a communiqué.
Rachid Hachichi, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sonatrach, held, today, a phone call with the Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (Libya), Farhat Omar Ben Guedara. This call addressed the issue of Sonatrach resuming its activities in Libya.
These discussions took place after Sonatrach officially notified the withdrawal of the force majeure case, in response to an invitation issued by the National Oil Company (Libya) to international companies operating in the Libyan oil and gas sector.
“For this purpose, the parties agreed to hold a high-level meeting in Tripoli on November 7, 2023, aiming to resume the contractual commitments of SONATRACH Group in the exploration of the “065” and “96/95” blocks in the Ghadames Basin. In addition, both parties agreed to discuss the opportunities to promote bilateral partnership and strengthen cooperation between the two companies,” said the source.
