ALGIERS – Tuesday, 09 August 2022 (APS) – The speaker of the People’s National Assembly (lower house of Parliament), Brahim Boughali, on Monday in Bogota discussed with Colombia’s minister of Foreign Affairs and Peace, Alvaro Leyva Duran, on the promotion of bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Boughali said President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune “attaches great importance to supporting and strengthening cooperation between Algeria and Colombia in the political and economic fields, given the position of the two countries at both regional and international levels and their significant potential.”
He also stressed “Algeria’s interest in the approach of the new Colombian president on the promotion of exchange of experience and know-how in various fields, such as the fight against corruption, arms trafficking and climate change.”
The Colombian Foreign Minister “conveyed President Gustavo Petro’s warm greetings to his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.”
President Petro, he said, “gives a special importance to efforts to promote relations between the two countries and to give them exceptional dimensions.”
He added that his meeting with Boughali “is the first of its kind with an African country.”
He stressed the “great importance he attaches to cooperation between the two nations, especially in energy, agriculture and trade.”
