ALGIERS – Tuesday, 31 October 2023 (APS) – The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Tuesday sent a message to Algerians on the eve of the celebration of the 69th anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious November 1954 Revolution. Here is the APS translation of the message:
“In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
May the prayers of Allah be upon the last of His Prophets and Messengers
Fellow citizens,
The celebration of the sixty-ninth (69th) anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious War of Liberation gives us the pleasant opportunity to remember, on this symbolic date and with great pride, the sacrifices made by the Algerian people during their armed struggle against colonial hegemony, whose doctrine was to rule our blessed land forever, before being annihilated by freedom-loving revolutionaries who embraced jihad and, on November 1st 1954, paved the way for our valiant heroes to achieve victory or die as martyrs.
On the path of struggle, they reaped triumph and glory, commanding admiration and respect in an Algeria proud of its valiant people and ambitious youth, carrying the torch to complete the national march towards a new Algeria that banks on the potential and genius of its sons and daughters, in fidelity to its national history. An Algeria determined to achieve the highest levels of socio-economic development, through the mobilization of means and potential and the fight against passivity and inaction, while freeing itself from obstacles and bureaucratic mentalities.
The commemoration of the glorious November 1st Revolution constantly reminds us of the weight of our responsibility and the sacred nature of the legacy we have inherited. This is the source of our determination to achieve, through the mobilization of Algerians, our strategic goals, which we intend to make tangible on the ground, far from the blunders of defeatists, far from one-upmanship and, above all, far from the dizzying propaganda of the henchmen of the enemies of our beloved homeland, which is turning with determination and sure steps towards fulfilment, well-being and prosperity, in fidelity to the oath made to our hero martyrs, may Allah surround them with His eternal grace.

The anniversary of this memorable date coincides with the serious impact of the Zionist occupation’s unrelenting barbaric aggression against the Palestinian people, and its persistent crimes of extermination in the Gaza Strip.
Algeria, which has always stood by the Palestinian people in both word and deed, reiterates its appeal to all regional and international parties to awaken the conscience of the international community and put an end to the barbaric strikes on children, women and the elderly, reaffirms the constancy of its unchanging position, reflecting faithfulness to our glorious History and to the message of the November 1st 1954 Liberation War.
Algeria calls on all souls of freedom, justice and goodwill to cease this crime against humanity committed by the Zionist occupier, in full view of the whole world.
Our commemoration of the deeds and sacrifices of our valiant shouhadas (martyrs) will remain deeply rooted in the nation’s consciousness, to stand as a beacon lighting the way for free and honest men in our beloved country and around the world.
I would not fail to pay tribute, with all of you, to the memory of our valiant shouhadas and my sisters and brothers mujahideen.
