ALGIERS – Tuesday, 15 November 2022 (APS) – Prime Minister Aimene Benabderrahmane affirmed Tuesday, in Algiers, that the 1st National Conference on Civil Society is the culmination of a long process that implemented the vision of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune for a free civil society able to assume its responsibilities.
In his speech at the opening of the 1st National Conference on Civil Society, Benabderrahmane said that this conference “is the culmination of an elaborate long process that enabled our country to strengthen its institutional structures for the first time in its history.”
“The National Civil Society Watchdog (ONSC) is an important gain and constitutes another milestone that comes to give concrete expression to President Tebboune’s vision on the role and position of the civil society within the framework of his development project and commitment to build a free and active civil society able to assume its responsibilities as an instrument assessing the public activity”, stressed Prime minister.
This conference “is the first step to assess ONSC’s action since its installation in December 2021 and is the culmination of different meetings and conferences organized in different provinces, in order to establish an appropriate diagnosis of the reality of the civil society, its concerns and aspirations and to define the mechanisms and ways to promote its role,” he said.
“This phase is crucial and constitutes the starting point to lay the foundation for a more organized and more effective participation of the vital forces of the civil society and for a broader contribution to the national development project,” he underlined.
