ALGIERS – Sunday, 10 December 2023 (APS) – The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune ordered the Hassi Messaoud refinery to be relaunched “as soon as possible” at the Council of Ministers meeting he chaired on Sunday, according to a Council of Ministers communiqué.
Concerning the Energy sector, “President Tabboune instructed the Energy minister to relaunch the Hassi Messaoud refinery as soon as possible”, reads the communiqué.
The President of the Republic also ordered that “efforts be redoubled to diversify production capacities for petroleum-derived products, to export them abroad, as they represent significant added value,” according to the same source.
As for the progress of seawater desalination plant projects, the President of the Republic emphasized the need to “accelerate the completion of seawater desalination plants all along the country’s coastline in order to ensure water supplies for our fellow citizens.”
