ALGIERS – Saturday, 27 May 2023 (APS) – Grand Mufti of Jerusalem (al-Quds) and the Palestinian Territories Sheikh Mohammad Hussein on Friday welcomed the Algerian State’s support for the Palestinian cause and its efforts for the unification of Arab ranks.
In a statement to the media following Friday prayer in the Belkaidia Zawiya in Birkhadem, Algiers, where he preached a sermon in the presence of the minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Laïd Rebiga, the grand mufti of al-Quds said “Algeria, a brother country, considers the Palestinian cause as one of its priorities.”
After giving his thanks and expressing his recognition to the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and the Algerian government and people for their support of the just Palestinian cause, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein said
Algeria was “the rebirth of the Arab and Muslim Nation.”
In his Friday Sermon, the Grand Mufti of al-Quds and the Palestinian Territories said the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba “is a duty, to remember the massacres suffered by the Palestinian people.”
Those painful events, according to him, remain engraved in the minds of the Palestinians but also all free Arab and Muslim people who are jealous of their religion, their lands and their sacred values.”
Sheikh Mohammad Hussein cited in this respect “the Algerian people and their noble and commendable positions.”
