ALGIERS – Tuesday, 10 October 2023 (APS) – The General Policy Statement of the government, presented Tuesday by Prime Minister Aïmene Benabderrahmane at the People’s National Assembly, emphasized the efforts of the People’s National Army in securing borders and preserving the national sovereignty.

In this respect, the document said that the People’s National Army “fulfills its constitutional missions in light of the guidelines of the President of the Republic, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of the National Defense, by being fully aware of the scale of the challenges and stakes to be addressed, notably in view of the evolutions recorded in our regional and international environment, including the repercussions on the country’s security and stability are well known.”

In terms of securing borders, the government’s General Policy Statement underlines that the People’s National Army “makes sure to preserve the national sovereignty and protect the national economy, by strengthening and updating monitoring and protection mechanisms at land border areas as well as sea and air spaces.”

The document sheds light on “the palpable results published every day, achieved by the military detachments and in collaboration with the security services, in the field of counterterrorism, smuggling, cross-border organized crime, illegal migration, multifaceted trafficking, including drug trafficking.

It underlines that these results “reflect the vigilance and determination of the People’s National Army to fight, relentlessly, against all the forms of cross-border crime in order to ensure a maximum security of the borders.”

In the face of the cyberspace’s threats against the national security and the State’s sensitive and vital systems, the People’s National Army “continues its efforts for the development of its capacities in terms of cyber defense and fully contributes to the implementation of the integrated national strategy in digital technology,” added the source.
