ALGIERS – Tuesday, 06 June 2023 (APS) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf received Monday a phone call from his Slovenian counterpart, Tanja Fajon, during which the two sides discussed ways to boost cooperation and political dialogue between Algeria and Slovenia, said the Ministry in a statement.
Slovenia’s FM confirmed the decision of her country’s high authorities to open an embassy in Algeria, in a move aimed primarily at “consolidating the political rapprochement between the two countries and exploring the promising prospects of bilateral economic partnership”, said the source.
The two officials discussed the elections scheduled for Tuesday at the United Nations General Assembly, to appoint new members of the Security Council, and renewed their mutual support for both countries’ candidacies for membership of the UN body for the period 2024-2025.
They also expressed “their will to work together within the Security Council and to strengthen coordination to enshrine their shared commitment and attachment to the principles and objectives of the United Nations Charter.”
