ALGIERS – Thursday, 07 September 2023 (APS) – The minister of foreign Affairs and National community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, was received Wednesday by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to whom he handed over a message from the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, as part of a working visit to Ankara, Türkiye, assigned by the president of the Republic, the ministry said in a statement.
Attaf conveyed to the Turkish president “the greetings of his brother, the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and a message as part of the permanent contacts between the leaders of the two brotherly countries, and their desire to strengthen fraternity, cooperation and partnership between Algeria and Türkiye.”
The two sides emphasized “the qualitative development of Algerian-Turkish relations in various areas.
They stressed “the desire of the leaders of the two countries to enhance the achievements made and promote them in the next bilateral meetings, mainly the second session of the High-Level Cooperation Council, to be held in Algiers during the visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey to Algeria, at the invitation of his brother the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune,” the ministry said in the statement.
The two sides raised the latest developments in the Sahel-Saharan region, a matter of common interest and a source of growing concern for the two countries and the whole international community.
Attaf informed the Turkish president of the steps taken by President Tebboune to “ease the situation and contribute in the settlement of the crisis triggered by the unconstitutional change in Niger, as well as his efforts to promote the development approach in dealing with the challenges faced by the countries and peoples of the region, which is now the theatre of the largest number of tensions and conflicts in the world,” the statement said.
