ALGIERS – Friday, 22 September 2023 (APS) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ahmed Attaf held bilateral discussions with several of his counterparts, on the sidelines of his participation in the works of the ministerial segment of the 78th United Nations General Assembly, the ministry said Friday in a statement.

 

“Attaf held bilateral discussions with several of his counterparts. He met with Foreign ministers of Italy, Austria, France, Senegal and Nicaragua, on the sidelines of his participation in the works of the ministerial segment of the 78th UNGA,” added the source.

The minister also held discussions with Nigeria’s National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and with German Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze, added the source.

These meetings were the opportunity to review the bilateral relations between Algeria and these countries, and to exchange views on major issues included in the agenda of the General Assembly and of the Security Council.

The deteriorating situation in the Sahel region was discussed, as well as Algeria’s efforts to develop and activate peaceful solutions to the crises that threaten the region’s security and stability, notably in Niger, Mali and Libya, in addition to the development approach that our country tends to promote by providing the necessary support as part of addressing the increased challenges facing the States and the peoples of this region, said the source.
