The proposal for this reappointment was made by the Director General of the Algerie Press Service (APS) newsy agency, Samir Gaid, outgoing President of AMAN. Gaid was elected to the post of first vice-president of AMAN, for a one-year term, after the adoption by the GA of the Alliance of the new component of its Board of Directors.
During this general assembly, during which AMAN’s moral and financial reports were adopted, the proposal to award the hosting rights of the next two AMAN GAs in 2023 and 2024 was adopted.
The 31st GA in 2023 will be held by the Tunisian agency TAP and that of the following year by the Italian agency ANSA.
At the end of this GA, the prize for best article was awarded to the Syrian agency SANA for the article entitled “The Syrians Were the First to Invent Seals”, while the prize for best photography went to the Spanish news agency EFE for the photo entitled “Eruption in La Palma Spain.”
In addition, the AMAN Statement on the role of press agencies in sustainable development was adopted under the media pact proposed by the HINA agency.
On the sidelines of this GA, an agreement on the exchange of informational content and photographs was signed between APS and HINA agency, represented respectively by their general directors, Samir Gaid and Branka Gabriela Vojvodic, in the presence of the Ambassador of Algeria to Croatia, Mokhtar Amine Khelif.
In a speech delivered on this occasion, Gaid presented the experience of APS which set up a platform on the occasion of the Mediterranean Games in Oran last summer, emphasizing that Algeria has fulfilled its commitments in this regard.
Following an international seminar organized in Oran last June under the theme ”The Role of Press Agencies in the Promotion of Sport in the Mediterranean Region”, APS provided its partners with a sharing platform through which the informational content of different media on the sports competitions of the Mediterranean Games of Oran was shared, recalled Gaid.
Given the effectiveness of this platform, the DG of APS proposed to renew this experience on the occasion of the Arab Summit that Algeria will host on November 1 and 2, urging Mediterranean press agencies to ensure full media coverage of this event.
