ALGIERS – Monday, 28 February 2022 (APS) – An Algerian national died Saturday in the city of Kharkiv, north of Ukraine, the ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad said Sunday, adding that it was working on the “repatriation of the remains of the deceased.”
The ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad expressed, in a statement, its deep dismay at the death of an Algerian national in the city of Kharkiv, on 26 February 2022, pointing out that its diplomatic services were working, within the available means, for the repatriation of the remains of the deceased.
The ministry reiterated its call on Algerian nationals in Ukraine to “exercise caution, follow scrupulously the instructions and stay in touch with the embassy of Algeria in Kyiv as well as our diplomatic missions in Warsaw, Poland, and in Bucharest, Romania, for those who have crossed the Ukrainian borders” into those two countries.
In this painful ordeal, the minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, has extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, “praying to the Almighty to admit him in His vast paradise and provide comfort and support to his family and relatives.”
According to the statement, the ministry voiced the concerns of the Algerian authorities, in these difficult circumstances, to ensure the evacuation of the Algerian nationals towards Algeria, urging them to contact the Algerian embassies in Warsaw and Bucharest through the phone numbers and the email addresses provided below.
