ALGIERS – Wednesday, 02 August 2023 (APS) – Several agreements, memorandums of understanding and executive programs defining the partnership priorities between Algeria and Tanzania for the coming period were signed on Tuesday at the International Conference Center (CIC) in Algiers, particularly in the fields of energy, trade, training, higher education and scientific research, culture and arts.

These areas are in perfect synergy with the national development plans adopted by the two countries and are perfectly suited to the common goal of boosting inter-African relations.

These agreements and memorandums of understanding are part of the 5th session of the Algeria-Tanzania Joint Cooperation Committee, which wrapped up on Tuesday evening, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of the United Republic of Tanzania, Stergomena Lawrence Tax.

A memorandum of understanding on cooperation was signed between the National Electricity and Gas Company (Sonelgaz) and the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC).

The memorandum of understanding was co-signed by the Secretary General of Sonelgaz Group, Nabil Kafi, and the Director of Planning and Investment, Derick Moshi.

Another memorandum of understanding was signed between Sonelgaz and the Tanzanian electricity company Tanesco, covering cooperation in the electricity sector. The document was co-signed by Nabil Kafi and Decklan Mhaiki.

A memorandum of understanding on cooperation was signed by Sonatrach Group and TPDC. The document was co-signed by Sonatrach’s Head of Business, Development and Marketing, Lynda Kettab, and the Director of Planning and Investment, Derick Moshi, on behalf of the Director of Management (TPDC).

An agreement to set up an Algeria-Tanzania Business Council was also signed between the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI) and the Tanzanian Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA), co-signed by the presidents of the two chambers, Kamel Hamenni and Edmund Mkwawa respectively.

Another memorandum of understanding was signed by the General Directorate of National Archives and the Tanzanian Department of Archives and Records Management, in addition to an executive program between the two bodies.

These documents were co-signed by the Director General of the National Archives, Abdelmadjid Chikhi and the Director of Tanzanian Archives, Firimin Msiangi.
