ALGIERS – Monday, 23 October 2023 (APS) – Algeria-Iraq Parliamentary Friendship Group was set up Sunday, at the People’s National Assembly (lower house of Parliament) in Algiers, to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
The parliamentary group was set up under the supervision of the head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and National Community Abroad
(lower house of Parliament), Rabah Bouteldja, and the Consul of the Republic of Iraq in Algeria, Sarmad Dilchad Ayoub, in the presence of the representative of the ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Fouad El Ayachi.
Bouteldja said the step “shows the traditional convergence of positions between the two countries.”
He added that the group would contribute to “revive parliamentary diplomacy and cooperation between the two legislative bodies in line with the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on political consultations, signed in Baghdad in 2014 between the two countries.”
