ALGIERS – Sunday, 22 October 2023 (APS) – The Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received Sunday in Algiers the Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Climate Protection, Stefan Wenzel, with whom he discussed the ways of cooperation and partnership between Algeria and Germany in the fields of energy, according to a Ministry press release.
During the meeting, which took place in the presence of Germany’s ambassador to Algiers, Elisabeth Wolbers, ministry officials, a delegation from the German ministry and German energy companies, the two parties discussed bilateral cooperation in the field of energy under the strategic partnership between the two countries in this area, the release adds.
On this occasion, the two officials expressed their satisfaction with the measures adopted with the German partners in the energy field, particularly with regard to renewable energy, the development of hydrogen and energy competence in Algeria.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the work of the 5th Algeria-Germany Energy Day, to be held in Algiers on Monday, under the theme “Technologies of the Future Biding Us – Renewable Energy and Green hydrogen.”
Ways of establishing cooperative relations through mutually beneficial partnership projects, particularly in the development, transport and marketing of green hydrogen, were also examined, in addition to the reduction of carbon footprints and emissions, through the Algerian company Sonatrach and the German company VNG, connection to the electricity grid, exchange of experience and expertise, and training.
Arkab also emphasized the importance of Germany-Algeria cooperation in the field of technologies and new techniques, in particular the development of hydrogen, expressing Algeria’s desire to implement this cooperation through the implementation of mutually beneficial joint projects.
For his part, Wenzel emphasized the interest shown by German companies in the Algerian market, expressing the readiness of the German side to explore all opportunities offered to develop mutually beneficial cooperation and achieve the objectives to which both parties aspire.
