ALGIERS – Monday, 10 October 2022 (APS) – French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne expressed Sunday, in Algiers, her determination to build a renewed relationship between Algeria and France, calling the 5th session of the Algerian-French High-Level Intergovernmental Committee a “strong signal” and a “step in the establishment of a closer cooperation between the two countries.”
“The fifth session of the Algerian-French High-Level Intergovernmental Committee, being held in Algiers a few weeks after the meeting between the two leaders, is a strong signal. It shows our determination to build a new relationship between our two countries,” Borne said at a press briefing following the committee meeting she co-chaired with Prime Minister Aymen Benabbderrahamne.
She added that the meeting was a “step in the establishment of a closer cooperation between France and Algeria,” adding that her visit to Algeria “gives a fresh impetus and a sustainable cycle that will be beneficial to our two peoples and our youths.”
“The atmosphere of trust and brotherhood” marking the fifth session of the Algerian-French High-Level Intergovernmental Committee is “just like the commitment to establishing a renewed relationship between the two countries, following the historic meeting between the leaders of the both countries last August,” Borne said.
The French Prime Minister described the meeting as an “unprecedented opportunity to give a concrete expression to the vision of our leaders.”
The visit by 15 members of the (French) government, according to Borne, “shows our common desire to implement this sustainable commitment that will primarily benefit the citizens of the two countries.”
