ALGIERS – Tuesday, 12 December 2023 (APS) – The minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, on Monday took part in the 111th Council of Ministers meeting of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), in Doha, Qatar, the ministry said in a statement.
At the ministerial meeting attended by Arkab, along with the CEOs of Sonatrach and Sonelgaz, on the sidelines of his participation in the works of the 12th Arab Energy Conference, the attendees tackled several issues on the meeting’s agenda and discussed themes relating to the organization’s activities, such as the adoption of the organisation’s 2024 budget and the monitoring of the development and restructuring of OAPEC activities,” the statement said.
The council also examined the general report 2023 drafted by the secretary general, technical studies carried out by the organisation, and the adoption of the Research Award 2022 on themes relating to the reduction of carbon footprint in oil and gas industries.
The participants in the meeting “welcomed Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the 13th Arab Energy Conference in 2027,” whose “next session will be chaired by Qatar in line with the convention on the creation of the organisation.”
It was also agreed “to hold, on 15 December 2024 in Kuwait, the next meeting of the Council of Ministers.”
