ALGIERS – Friday, 10 November 2023 (APS) – Minister of Fishing and Fisheries Ahmed Badani received on Thursday at the ministry’s headquarters Turkish ambassador to Algiers, Mujahid Kucuk Yilmaz, with whom he discussed the prospects for strengthening cooperation and partnership between the two countries, according to a statement issued by the ministry.
The meeting, which took place in the presence of ministry officials, enabled the two parties to discuss the “prospects for strengthening cooperation and partnership in the field of fisheries and aquaculture,” said the source.
On this occasion, the Minister affirmed “the sector’s readiness to support and accompany Turkish companies interested in investing in Algeria in terms of fishing and aquaculture, and to provide them with the necessary facilities,” saying he was convinced of the “effective” contribution that could be made by Turkish companies.
The minister further invited Turkish investors and businessmen to take part in the International Fisheries and Aquaculture Exhibition, scheduled to take place in Oran from 8 to 11 February 2024.
For his part, the Turkish ambassador expressed his willingness to work to strengthen and develop bilateral cooperation in the field of fishing and aquaculture, by exploring cooperation projects with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).
He also said he was ready to urge and guide Turkish operators and businessmen to invest in the shipbuilding industry, bluefin tuna fattening and the fish processing industry in Algeria, given their high economic profitability, according to the same source.
