ALGIERS – Sunday, 15 October 2023 (APS) – The Prime Minister, Aïmene Benabderrahmane, said Saturday that on the instructions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, it was decided to permanently lift the freeze on promotions in the Civil Service, enabling 280,000 civil servants meeting the seniority requirements to benefit from it.
In answering questions from the People’s National Assembly deputies about the Government’s General Policy Statement, the Prime Minister said that this operation, to which a budget of DZD29.6 billion has been allocated, will phase in over three years (2023, 2024, 2025, respectively) at 100,00 promotions annually.
This decision aims to make up for the 9-year delay.
Benabderrahmane said that resuming the ordinary process of promotions in the Civil Service “will be by 2026, based on human resources plans.”
