ALGIERS – Monday, 04 September 2023 (APS) – The minister of Health, Abdelhak Saihi, on Sunday chaired, at the ministry’s headquarters, a ceremony in honour of the members of the 27th Chinese medical mission, who are leaving Algeria after providing medical support in many parts of the country, the ministry said in a statement.
In the ceremony, attended by the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Algiers, Li Jian, the minister stressed “the level of relations between the two countries in all fields, mainly in the health sector,” recalling that the first Chinese medical mission dated back to sixty years ago.
Saihi expressed his wish to see bilateral relations further strengthened in the future, through the execution of big projects as part of investments, such as “the proposal to create an Algerian-Chinese medical academy.”
The minister welcomed “the level and degree of development reached by medicine in the People’s Republic of China, which makes it the preferred destination of Algeria for cooperation and partnership projects in the field.”
“The new Chinese medical mission in Algeria will arrive in 20 days, with a new team made up of 81 doctors, specialists and paramedics.”
