ALGIERS – Monday, 03 July 2023 (APS) – The works of the constituent general assembly of the International Association of the Friends of the Algerian Revolution kicked off Monday, in Algiers, in the presence of participants from several brotherly countries.
The opening of this assembly, coinciding with the wrap up of the festivities celebrating the sixtieth anniversary of the recovery of the national sovereignty, and the festivities marking the 61st anniversary of Independence Day, was chaired by Minister of Mujahedeen and Rights Holders Laid Rebiga, in the presence of adviser to the President of the Republic for Special Affairs Mohamed Chafik Mesbah, and members of the government.
The opening of this meeting was also marked by the presence of former Mozambican president Joaquim Chissano, and several representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to Algeria.
In a speech made on this occasion, Rebiga said that Algeria is “the country of freedom and noble values, the destination of free men,” stressing that this meeting has a symbolic significance,” adding that it coincides with the festivities marking the 61st anniversary of Independence Day, celebrated this year under the theme “Algeria of victories, Algeria of achievements.”
Algeria, he said, “will never forget the Friends of the Glorious liberation war as well as their support to its just cause, and expresses, once again, its faithfulness and gratitude to them.
