MOSCOW – Wednesday, 14 June 2023 (APS) – The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune held talks Wednesday in Moscow with the Russian Prime Minister, Mikhail Mishoustin, as part of his three-day state visit to the Russian Federation, at the invitation of his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
The talks took place in the presence of members of the large ministerial delegation accompanying the President of the Republic, and their counterparts from the Russian Federation.

President Tebboune stressed that Algeria, which has “regained its political and economic strength, intends to become an economic and industrial power in Africa.”
He seized the opportunity to point out that his first visit to Russia “intervenes in a particular political context, which nonetheless confirms the sincere friendship between the two countries.”
Regretting the “low” level of economic relations between the two countries, President Tebboune recalled that trade, excluding the defense sector, “stands at around US$40 million.”
He expressed the wish to see these relations “enhanced in all areas”, such as agriculture, industry, culture, and start-ups, insisting on the exchange of visits between the two countries.
For his part, the Russian PM emphasized the quality of relations between his country and Algeria, based on friendship and mutual respect”, underlining the potential areas of cooperation such as energy, agriculture, transport, and technology.
He also expressed his country’s desire to “increase the volume of trade with Algeria.”
