ALGIERS – Friday, 07 April 2023 (APS) – The president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on Thursday sent best wishes to health professionals and workers in Algeria, on the occasion of the celebration of the World Health Day, highlighting the State’s commitment to protecting public health and preventing communicable diseases and epidemics, an ever-growing commitment through the government’s efforts for the preservation and promotion of the national free health care system, the presidency of the Republic said in a statement.
“The World Health Day is being celebrated in our country which has made many achievements in the health sector, showing the State’s commitment to guarantee the right to public health protection and the prevention of communicable diseases and epidemics,” the statement said.
“An ever-growing commitment through the government’s efforts for the preservation and promotion of the national free health care system, which has allowed Algeria to occupy an advanced position in the ranking of African leading countries in universal health coverage.”
The celebration of the World Health Day coincides with the 75th anniversary of the creation of the World Health Organisation (WHO), said the president of the Republic who “seized the opportunity of the tribute to health professionals and workers in our country, to commend the efforts made by the World Health Organisation (WHO), in every part of the world, to help vulnerable social groups and ensure the development of adapted and inclusive health systems,” the statement said.
President Tebboune stressed “the importance of cooperation with this organisation through its Algiers office’s support for the efforts of the Algerian government, which he invited to enhance cooperation with the WHO in the implementation of the strategic cooperation framework to guarantee healthcare for everybody in Algeria.”
