ALGIERS – Friday, 30 September 2022 (APS) – Minister of Culture and Arts Soraya Mouloudji, Algeria’s representative, took part in the “UNESCO-MONDIACULT 2022 World Conference,” themed “Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development,” which opened Wednesday and will wrap up on Friday, said the ministry in a statement.
The Minister gave her first main presentation under the dialogue session entitled “Culture for sustainable development,” within the framework of the development and renewal of cultural policies, the future of the economy of innovation, in which she stressed “the new economic approach of cultural heritage, adopted by the Algerian Government” and which “strongly contributes to the development of cultural tourism and to the enhancement of archaeological sites and historical monuments in the economic dynamics, being one of the levers of sustainable development.”
The conference aims to discuss a set of points, including the consolidation of the culture sector’s role, as the main driving force for the revival of sustainable development, to respond to the opportunities and challenges of digitization, to consolidate cultural diversity, protect cultural heritage while putting it at the service of society and cultural diplomacy, to strengthen the economy of innovation, develop infrastructures, consolidate education and training as well as to build capacities in the cultural sector.
This three-day conference was marked by interventions and views given by a large number of cultural leaders around the world, face-to-face or via videoconference, as part of the consolidation of a global dialogue on the role of culture in sustainable development.
