ALGIERS – Monday, 12 September 2022 (APS) – Algeria ranked first country in North Africa in terms of human development, “high” category, according to the latest report of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on the ranking of countries by Human Development Index (HDI) in a statement.
Algeria is followed by Egypt and Tunisia which ranked 2nd, Libya in 3rd place among North African countries, while Morocco ranked last, in the “average” category according to the UNDP report, entitled “Uncertain Times, Disrupted Lives: Shaping Our Future in a Changing World.”
In Africa, Algeria ranked 3rd, behind Seychelles and Mauritius, ahead of Egypt and Tunisia in fourth place, Libya in 5th place, South Africa in 6th place and Morocco, ranked 10th, according to the same document from the UN organization.
Out of the 191 countries ranked by the UNDP report, Algeria ranks 91st ahead of Tunisia and Egypt (97th), Libya (104th), South Africa (109th) and Morocco (123rd).
