ALGIERS – Monday, 08 August 2022 (APS) – Algeria expressed Monday its satisfaction following the signing of a peace agreement by Chadian authorities and armed groups and movements, which should pave the way for an inclusive national dialogue in N’Djamena.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad said Algeria followed “with great satisfaction the signing today (Monday) in Doha by the Chadian authorities and many groups and armed movements of a peace agreement to pave the way for an inclusive national dialogue in N’Djamena for lasting peace in the Republic of Chad.
“On this happy occasion, Algeria extends its warmest congratulations to the Government and all Chadian parties for their remarkable commitment to this process,” the same source added, praising “the important contribution” of the State of Qatar, which has hosted and facilitated the talks over the past five months.
“It calls on Chadian actors to build on this compromise to turn the page of fratricidal strife and violence and to promote together the achievement of the objectives of the ongoing transition in terms of stability, development and good governance,” said the ministry.
Algeria, which was represented at this event, “hopes that Chad will quickly honor the promises of this agreement,” the same source concluded.
