DOHA (Qatar) – Sunday, 20 February 2022 (APS) – President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune held discussions Sunday with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, in Doha where he arrived Saturday for a two-day state visit.
The president of the Republic and the delegation accompanying him were received, by the Emir of Qatar in his office. The two leaders listened to the national anthems of the two countries and inspected a detachment of the princely guard of Qatar that received them with honours.
The officials of the two countries held discussions before the president of the Republic and the Emir of Qatar held one-on-one talks.
At the end of the meeting, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani hosted a luncheon in the honour of President Tebboune and the delegation accompanying him.
The president of the Republic had arrived Saturday evening in Doha for a two-day State visit. He was welcomed at the international airport of Doha by Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and top Qatari officials.
The visit is “part of the strengthening of the fraternal relationship between the two brotherly peoples and the promotion of bilateral cooperation, in line with the strong, age-old relations between the two peoples and the leaders of the two countries,” the presidency of the Republic said Friday in a statement.
President Tebboune will also attend the 6th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the GECF (Gas Exporting Countries Forum) Member Countries in Doha, according to the statement.
President Tebboune is accompanied by a ministerial delegation made up of the minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, the minister of Justice, the minister of Energy and Mines, the minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, the minister of Housing, Urban Planning and City Affairs, the minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Affairs.
