ALGIERS – Monday, 07 August 2023 (APS) – The 2nd International Heritage Film Days will be organized from 26 to 29 October in Algiers, with Palestine as a guest of honor, said the event’s organizers.
The State of Palestine will be the guest of honor of this cultural event that will be organized at the initiative of “the Algerian Organization of Heritage, Tourism and Craft Industry,” and under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture and Arts, on the occasion of the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage, said a statement published in the event’s website.
Placed under the theme “Heritage, an economic and touristic lever,” the 2nd International Heritage Film Days” provides for the screening of several Palestinian films, in the section “Panorama of the Palestinian film,” like “Milad mor” (Bitter Birth) by Mohamed El karmi, “Ghazel” by Amjad Arafa, and “Odtou Ilayha” by Ghosson Elmadi, in addition to “Djissr Al Awda” (The bridge of return) by Issam Belane.
The festival’s directorate announced the opening of the registrations since 30 July for the films willing to participate in this edition, adding that the reception of the requests for film from all regions of the world will continue until 30 September.
Only short films (fiction and documentaries) can participate in this festival, as long as they deal about heritage, like the intangible cultural heritage.
According to the event’s organizers, the International Heritage Film Festival aims to “promote the national heritage through films, cinema and photo in general.”
